cooloing it? It's fine. Just use normal saltwater precautions.

In it?? Then get it cleaned out QUICK !!!!!!!!

If the cooling system is flushed using fresh water and the bilge as well, to flush away the salt then will not cause any long term damage with occasional use in saltwater.

Constant salt exposure is hard on any jet ski though and will shorten the life to some extent, even with good maintenance practices. That's the price paid for riding in the ocean.

Salt will eat a mild steel trailer fast, you can actually hear the rust growing, just after.

How bad is saltwater to a 587?

Ok, I just checked my maps and do not see any saltwater source in Tennessee. Whada ya trying to put over on us here?

Seriously though, I been working in salt water from San Diego to Southeast Alaska and can say that operations in salt water require a lot more cleanup, but if cleanup is followed the hardware will last a long time.

Doc has the key question: saltwater in normal operational areas or in places where water never should be?

Occasionally I go to the Gulf Coast and just wanted to know how bad the salt water would be to my new to me SP

The Gulf Coast? Seriously? No, no ... go to the Altantic Ocean on the other coast of Florida, the waves are much bigger than the whimpy gulf ripple so your SeaDoo will spend way more fun time catching air and less time in the corrosive salt water.

But, if you rinse it out good it should be fine either place. There's a product called Salt Away that gets very good reviews.
