RXPX 2008 No oil in canister or filter

I am trouble shooting my oil indicator and limp mode for low oil. There is oil in the engine and dipstick indicates it is OK. When I opened the filter cansiter there was no oil in the filter element and canister is dry. Is this normal, and if not what would cause this to happen?

Not normal. Al least the paper element s/b wet. Sounds like a blockage of sorts. Being new to 4tec I couldn't recommend anything other than trace any lines or passages and make sure they are clear. Since you are a premium member d/l the manual.

I agree,, even if all the oil drained out, there would at the very least be evidence that oil was there, (meaning the canister and filter).

It can be a bad pump, pick-up tube, or plugged line. I am sure you can get a guage to test for pump pressure, but if there is no oil at the filter, rest assured there will be no pressure either.

I do not know if the pump is mechanical or electrical. I would suspect someone will jump in with good info on the pump to further help diagnose your issue.
