Rxp260 - Engine wont turn over, felt like pump had debris then locked up

Ski was running great all day. While running wide open, felt something change but still maintained speed until I let off the throttle.
Applied some throttle and felt and sounded like I had debris in pump. Have had success in clearing objects in the past so drove around working throttle forward, reverse, side to side. Gassed it pretty hard and hit point the vibration smoothed out, jumped on plain and pulled hard almost like normal. When wide open for maybe 20sec then died hard.

Tried restarting and it acted like the battery was weak. Turned over very slow then clicking. Jumped it off started with unusual drag but died after a second or two. Battery cables were hot..

Pulled back to the marina where I keep it docked and had the mechanic pull it out and check the pump. He said the pump was clean but found metal in my oil filter.

Have 95 hours on the ski maintained, but no SC rebuild yet. I do ride hard always! And jump waves from my friend wake boat. Try letting off the throttle when out of the water but probably not as quick as I should.

Never had any issues but really afraid I've trashed my favorite toy!

Help!

So basically the engine doesn't turn anymore when trying to start it? Jumping the battery was also a very bad idea, could have damaged the electronics. What year is that ski? Seems like it took quite a beating.

Metal in the oil filter means expensive trouble, sorry for your loss.
Take the engine out and open it up so you know where you are.

Thanks for the reply.
It's a 2014 Rxp260. Electronics all seem fine.
Did get it picked up and have it home now. Looked in the oil filter and can barely see any metal seems very fine. Could it be just normal wear? Will post a pic.

Really seems like something is in a bind. Any bearings or anything worth looking at?

If it would be normal wear it would not bind. Filter looks nothing problematic.
I would take spark plugs out and (try) toturn over the engine. Just take air hose off on the super charger intake and try to turn it over via the compressor wheel.

I just bumped the starter before pulling plugs. The engine turns over, just slow. Not fast enough to start.

I was going to pull the motor this weekend to tear it down. Figured why not try starting it again. Fired up for couple seconds a few times but would die as it did before. Then locked up again. Had a heck of a time but finally got the drive shaft out. Engine now turns free. Bumped it and it fired up and sounds normal. Any thoughts on what could have caused the binding? When pulling the drive shaft the bearing came out. The bearing turns but not freely and feels slightly rough.

Sounds like a pump bearing failed and that is your problem. Does the pump spin freely? You really shouldn't run the engine with the driveshaft out.

Metal in the oil filter is normal. Don't let others tell you this is a problem. The metal is from the bendix getting jammed into the flywheel and part of the design.

Pull the supercharger, just had a RXP X with charger bearing failure
You should be able to spin by hand, you can look into the chargers intake to see if the impeller is chewing up the casing

The pump does spin free. But the shaft bearing in the bellow is the one that came out and seem tight.
Also the end of the drive shaft looks like there was a rubber piece that is damaged.

Not running it with the shaft out was actually surprised when it started and I had to shut it off.
