Would it be worth my while to change the intake grate and impeller, without getting the whole riva kit?? a buddy of mine said this is a good idea and i will get MPH hour out of it, what part numbers am i looking for?? THANKS

Performance.....?

The performance grates on the market now are suppose to provide water direction fins, which are just horizontal fins on the vertical bars, and supose to keep you from loosing pump suction in a high speed turn.

The impeller for the RXP (which you don't state a year in the thread or your avatar, so I went with the 2006 model) that seems to be most popular is the 14/19r.......

I only have a problem in spending several hundred bucks for a couple extra mph on the water........it's worth it for some, .......just not my game.

a lot of people are getting those skis up to 73 mph with just the grates and prop change so its your decision. The riva air intake with the kit is a waste of money as there are better ways to get fresh air like a 4 inch DIY model most do

oh yea lots of things for you to spend money on and gain speed, But prop and grate would be the cheapest with the biggest gain from stock 67-68 mph to easy 72-73 for less than $500.

Solas 15/22R is the prop you want with that big o'le pump tunnel

wait.... your tellin me that an RXPX only goes 68??? no way...

we are talking about the 08 255hp RXPX right???

yes true GPS, Maybe 69 if you got a good one from the factory, Remember they went for acceleration not top end with the x's

ok gotcha... well that still sucks.. so that means that the 02 or 03 XP I buy next will out run a RXP with no problems huh.. sweeet..lol

not outrun that easily. rxtx is clocked to do 0-50mph in 2.9 seconds. so by the time you get up to top speed rxtx is 50 feet in front and since all stock skis top off at about the same speed you'll never catch it.

there is law that limits all muscle skis to 68mph.

good point... oh well at least for half the price u can go just as fast with the 03 XPDI.. at least in top speed.. maybe not acceleration..

yup top speed is all kinda the same unless craft is modified. I can stand still and there would be a guy flying towards me, as hes passing me I can gun it and catch him in a blink of a eye. they are fun to look at water and they turn heads.

once I do some mods on it it will be much faster.

meirvin, what is the DIY for intake? I wanna do some mods on mine next season.

what are yall talking about? top speed for stock xp's is 60-61, RXP 215 is 65-66, Rxp-x 67-68 no way all skis are the same on top end.

Do-it-yourself.

there is now law on top end speeds

I know what DIY means, I havent seen any DIY's for intake mod, thats why I asked.

then why are all skis limited to 70mph? I have yet to see a ski come out of factory do 80mph.

I have heard from a expert at impros. You may want to do the same thing when it comes to impeller. He may allso be able to give you further advise on mods. Can you believe it? He will actualy let you know that if he is not able to help you on these new skis as he has stated to me before that some new skis you can not have any gains as they have perfected the impellers to the point that any gains are virtualy impossable on the impeller end. Try and give Dave a call at impros he deals with alot of hiperformance people that look for every mph that they can get out of their skis. He will be hounest on the results.

Negative. RXP 215 on my gps is 68-69. I'm sure the RXP-X will get there quicker but it's not faster top end. Not from the factory at least.

And no there is no "law" per se that limits them to 70. The companies just keep it <70 so that they don't make a law that specifically states they must do so.

this is the only pic I have, basically SC adapter from R& D some kanoflex or other type of 4 inch hose and SS air filter from auto zone.run it up front to where your fresh air comes in

Then you need a catch can since your removing the factory dump into the factory air intake whose bright idea was that BTW
