rxdi wear ring replacment diy ? impeller removal necessary ?

I have to do my wear ring asap... just wondering if there is a diy and if I have to pull the impeller off or not.. I don't have the tool atm and it's $60 at the dealer.. I live in Toronto so, Im wondering if I can macguyver one together or something... or buy one locally...

any advice appreciated...

If you get a tool on-line... you can find them for $15 to $20. You can make your own if you can find an old driveshaft local. (any of the 2-stroke seadoo driveshafts will work) Just heat it up, and bend it to make a handle.

Some people say that it can be done without removing the impeller. BUT... if it's a factory wear ring... chances are... it won't come out easy. If it's an aftermarket... it may slide out.
