Hey guys well iv been too busy enjoying trouble free sking on the spark that I shadow the Di but need to get this sorted.

Firstly I fixed the maint fault I had but then removed motor etc to clean hull and block ettc.

I got too busy that I had to farm out the reinstall. Was qouted $1000 by AFC motorcycles in Palmerston North New Zealand. We are now at $1600 and the motor weirdly does not run.

Funny thing is it WAS before I took it to them

Every time they seem to find another fault.

When I originally approached them to do the job they said we charge $92 plus per hour. And all our mechanics are seadoo trained and have done the courses.

Now to inform you they've only started selling jetskis and working in them for bout a year.

Yet they've had my ski since the week before Easter!! Now months later. Still no ski.
They either don't have the right tools or the mechanic is away sick.
Brp dealer?? WAFJ!!!

Now they say there's another issue. The air pump that pressurized the fuel before it injects. They say it's running at 40/60psi as opposed to the 90 psi it should be.

Now remember ski was running fine before.
The diagnostics they found piston barrel scored and now say motor has to come out AGAIN to POSSIBLY repair the issue.

I'm at my wits end now and need help please fellow brp friends.

Are they taking the piss?
What should I do?
And is there an alternative to the fuel pressure issue? Ie can I fit a a/m fuel pressure pump maby? Externally?
Is it common ?

this is one of the reasons I shy people away from the DI skis... nightmare to troubleshoot.

this could either be a PITA engine/ski, or a dealer who don't know how to fix them... hard to tell without being there.

A hole in the water for you to pour money! (pull the plug!)

Yes, there is an air pump on the starboard rear of the engine that is used by direct injection to push fuel into the cylinder, it's a small piston type of air pump. The air pressure from this pump should be 90psi during engine cranking, to feed the 80psi air pressure regulator.

I dunno man, sounds like this engine is badly molested already but yes it is possible to replace the air pump components (cylinder and piston), without removing the engine totally from the ski.

I think to pay someone $90/hr for complex repairs of this "molested" ski is not a good idea, it will quickly become prohibitively expensive to repair a ski that is already in questionable condition due to a long list of previous maintenance errors.

Sounds like your Stealer is charging for services it is not or can not perform. I would get it back and try to get a full refund and try to fix it yourself. I am not sure how they can justify their fees if they have not fixed anything or made any progress, sounds like they actually made it worse. Good luck.
