Dumb question... but how long can I run my ski on the water hose? I hear 5 minutes but why not longer if it is getting water? It is a 99 GTX limited just got the ski and have not had the pleasure of getting it out on the water. replaced the gray lines and would like to run it. Also what is the factory setting for high and lows on the carbs? thanks for your help in advanced!

I'm not sure the exact answer but it seems to me the water it is getting wouldn't be near the same as pulling water out of a large body of water. I can't really see a reason to need to run it over 5 minutes out of the water though.

The problem is the driveshaft seal. SeaDoo uses a carbon seal, and it is lubed, and cooled by the lake water. If it's out of the water, you can overheat it, and it will crack. If you need to run it out of the water for an extended period of time... mix up some soapy water, and put it in a spray bottle, and keep the carbon ring wet.

With that said... there is no reason to run it out of water for more than a quick "flush." There is nothing that can be adjusted without a load on the pump.

Thanks! That is what I was looking for. Can anyone chime in on the carb settings?

Low = 1-1/2 turns out
High = 0 turns out
Idle = 1500 RPM (in the water)

Out of the water it will be around 3000 RPM... but it needs adjusted in the water. If there are no mods to the ski... you can set the mix needles without the engine running, to the specs above.

Good luck :cheers:
