Rotary Valve cover repair

My rotary valve cover has a nice gouge in it. It goes from intake port to intake port. Can this be repaired or still used?

I was at the dealership and the tech said as long as the gouge is not more than
10 thousands of an inch. I'll have to determine how deep my gouge is.

if its goin from port to port, its no good. you'll need to send off to sbt for replacement.

It does go from port to port, but the Tech at the dealership said it's usable. I found a used one one $60 anyway.
