Rotary Shaft Tolerances and Cover Wear

I have my rotary shaft cover off and think I need to machine down the mating surface. The surface is worn to the point that there is a small lip on each side of the rotary cover where the ports are. And the gap is way more than .35mm tolerance listed in shop manual.

I assume this isn't normal. Its hard to see but a picture is attached with red marking around area. Also, I have a yellow outline around one of the two little tube things that enter the cover and have caps on them on the outside of the cover. What are those for???

The rotary shaft itself will spin slightly in either direction and then catch. Should there be this much play? It doesn't move side to side as in deflection, but spins just slightly without the crank spinning.

That tube is your oil injection. You must be running premix if those are blocked off. The slight play in the rv shaft is the backlash of the rv gear and crank gear. I wouldn't worry about the non spec measurement. The case side is the one to watch. If it gets grooved real bad the cases will need replacing or you can have a brass wear plate installed.
