Im a noob here but let me say this website is awesome as to how to complete maintenance on seadoo's. After reading for hours was able to get to get carbs rebuilt on my 1996 seadoo XP. Purchased it new so have really never done much maintenance on it.

Ok here is the issue rebuilt the carbs with genuine mikuni kits SPR and mikuni needle and seats 1.5. Hi speed adjuster all the way in 0, Lo speed adjuister 1 turn out. Pop off pressure 31-32 on both, no bubble leaks around the new NS. Put on all new gates 1\4" fuel line except for the vent tube. Filter in the storage area is good and clean. On trailer starts right up where as before had to hold the throttle open part way. Took it to the lake in the water start right up. Started across the water maybe 1\4 throttle 15-20 mph maybe its fine there, try to increase the throttle more and/or wide open goes the same speed, if you know what a race motor on the chip sounds like thats the best way to describe it. Changed plugs same thing. Plug are very WET with fuel and oil. Ok so its really rich im thinking pop off or low speed adjuster or is something stuck open? I know im close but have only changed plugs, run out of time. Some ideas before i go back out??

Pop off is fine, both 787 carb sets I did had a pop off around 34-35 psi on each carb. Hard to say with everything you've done and cked out why it's still rich and doing what it's doing.

I'd clip the spark plug wires back, you could be losing spark connectivity as the engine advances in the powerband, though that's a guess, I'm not sure.

I'd ck the compression to make sure and see where you are on the health of the engine. You say purchased it new and haven't done much maintenance, so that says it's still on it's original top end after nearly 24 yrs.

Ok little more history this ski was used a bit up until 2005 then lightly after that. It was taken out once a year prob 2010 to 2016, not taken out at all 2017 18 & 19. This summer about 3 times until carb rebuild.

So last night i cut off the spark plug wires but havent been to lake yet. Here is the good news as i try to cover my bases i got compression testers from Oreily and Autozone. Autozone test results 150 both cyclinders and Oreily tester 160 both cyclinders. Im just kinda thinking maybe the pop off is to low at 31ish since compression is so good, probably has pretty good vacuum values...sound right? Im willing to try anything else, hated taking the carbs off but may have to.

I reused the black springs that it came with, used the new arms from the kit. I went by your step by step carb rebuild, thanks for all the work on that.

Well ive seen the statement on here " Sometimes these skis can be really finicky" and i believe it now. Went to the lake and it started to load up 1\4 throttle pretty bad like i said above but seen where one member on here said he turned off the fuel momentarily so tried it, turn the fuel back on before it died and now it just runs fine. I did do two things before went out, cut 1\4" off spark plug wires and turned the low speed needle in 1\8 of a turn from 1 turn out so not sure which helped or maybe just some kind of pressure problem in the fuel system that cleared up by starving it momentarily.
