Reverse "Plate" Stuck in Forward Position

I just bought a 2004 Sportster 4-Tec and the plate by the jet to shift into reverse will not move. The shifter will move but the plate does not. Is it the cable or the shift lever, or maybe something else?

Anyone have suggestions?

Disconnect the cable from the plate and see if it's the plate or cable...Use PB Blaster to loosen it up.

Plate Moves

Thanks. I disconnected the cable and the plate moves. There is some locking thing that came off too. I am thinking it is the cable, but the guys at the Sea Doo shop said it would cost like $250 in labor for them to fix it...how hard is it to change the cable?

Locking device?

Look at this exploded view of your reverse gate. You'll notice part number 20 is a locking lever. Look at your control linkage. See if you can determine, which of these pieces is holding you from operation.

Look it over because there are levers for locking the bucket. Make sure your cable operates freely. The exploded view I linked you to, should help you in removing the pieces and putting them back on.
