rev limiter removed

hay all the 1990 AND 1991 SP'S I PICKED UP BOTH HAVE HAD THE REV LIMITERS REMOVED. i understand that may allow me to over tac them and blow them up? should i get some and install? your hollywood bad guy that wishes with all the tools he has he was a more knowledgable mcannic and a better speller.

I would recommend it but its not necessary just dont run wide open throttle constantly and you should be ok
 
um your talking to someone who has owned them for all of a week. but i believe they do have MPEMs i just checked yesterday and discovered that where the limiter should be was an empty hole with some meshing filter stuff there and a gray screw attached to the outside of the plate. sooooo i unwisly assumed they had been removed. ill check. thanks Fr

Bad advice. Even at mid throttle settings... if the pump becomes un-loaded... the engine could rev well past 10K RPM's in a fraction of a second, and that could cause the engine to scatter. And lets face it... who can ride a ski, and not mash the throttle to full? It needs it's rev limiter. (Called a speed limiter in the early skis)

uh, I thought the MPEM limited the rpms. Does these skis not have MPEMs?

Nope. The early skis didn't have an MPEM.
