Replacing Bunk Board Carpet: Boat Jack?

I need to replace the bunk board carpet on the trailer. I don't have a lift and the lake is an hour away to get the boat off the trailer. Has anyone ever jacked the boat up to get the bunk board off? If so any suggestions? I am considering using another board to distributed the pressure and a hydrolic jack to lift one side up to relieve the pressure off the board and then remove it. Put on the new carpet and then put it back. Repeat for the opposite side. Not for sure if it will work just wondering if anyone has attempted this before. Thanks in advance!

Those look really cool, but at $300 to do the trailer, I think I would stick with carpet.

First you need to raise the front up all the way(I have one of those wheel things at he front)

I used a jack to lift up one side of the trailer, then used cinder blocks, with bricks and then a 2x4 with carpet on top and placed it between the bunk and the trailer side near the back. The let the trailer down slowly and repeated on the other side.

Then I placed a cinder block near the front with board and carpet and then let the front down. You'll have to experiment, but I had about 4-6inches of clearance to replace my bunks and repair a hole in the hull..

Boat yards do this all the time, except with a crane.. :)

Also, to clarify, you don't pull the trailer out from underneath the boat, just raise the boat off the tailer/bunks enough so you can remove 1 bunk and replace and then do the other side.

could you throw up a pic if you do it.

I need to replace cracked board.
then recover

Sure thing....I'll be attempting it this Sat. I will be an unhappy camper if I end up on U-Tube! There are several guys that have done it with success on other boat forums.
