Replaced Wear Ring...Impeller Won't Fit!

Starting a new thread since the other has a misleading title.


1995 XP 717 with the original impeller.

So I bought the wear ring from ebay, Bayareapowersports. Cut the old one out, hammered the new one in, and the impeller won't fit into the wear ring!

This it the original SeaDoo impeller. Any tips, or is the wear ring wrong and I have to replace it again?

Aftermarket wear rings are all over the place. Buy an OEM ring is the best bet.

Did you get a lip on it or anything when you hammered it in? Usually I put mine in the freezer first and then it lightly taps in. I have had them rub some on the impeller, but the impeller will make its own clearance quickly. But not sure how bad yours is.

I didn't think to check for a lip. I will check it today. I did put the wear ring in the freezer over night, and still had to hammer the hell out of it to get it in (rubber mallet with a 2x4 laid over the top).

No lip on the wear ring..it is smooth throughout. I have the pump sitting in the sun now, with the impeller in the freezer, but I don't have much hope of it fitting.

Looks like i'll be cutting this one out and ordering OEM.
