Hi guys

I have 2004 RXP and the front chrome piece on the hood is cracked and needs to be fixed/replaced.

I want to remove the hood so I can get to the screws holding the piece in place. I have removed all the little screws I can find that are holding on the hood but it won't budge. A friend of mine said the outside hood will slide down and should separate from the inside piece.

Has anyone done this before and could offer some advice? Is it also glued? Any tips at all would be helpful.

The part I am trying to remove is part number: 269501238 GRILL (FRONT)

Thanks heaps.

Lee

Remove the fake vent hoses on the top of the hood there are two large screws one under each hose.

Thanks guys that was helpful.

It appears this hood has been repaired before and has glue EVERYWHERE so I've gone a slightly different route... I ended up cutting some small holes out of the inside of the hood so I could get my tools into the screws holding the chrome piece on... little bit ugly but nothing that can't be sorted out :-)

So I ended up cutting two sections, one on each side, out of the underneath/inside of the hood. This allowed me to get to the screws (two on each side) that were holding the chrome piece on. A bit rugged I know but hey, I'll cover the holes up and make it look cool.

Also I ended up fixing the broken chrome piece by adding some metal gauze to the missing section and using epoxy resin stuff to fill in the gaps and glue it back together. Sanded it back down to smooth and will get it wrapped in some nice carbon wrap. Cheap but good!
