Hi everyone,,,,,,I just got a 1996 XP that has a leak when running(water) I have narrowed it down to the expansion chamber but can't see where it is coming from. I will try to remove the exhaust but need to know if the motor has to be partially removed. It is not a stock pipe and appears to be a very tight fit!
Any help is appreciated. I was thinking of unbolting the motor mounts and move the motor to help get the chamber off. Is this how??

Not sure of the pipe you have, but it should come off with out removing the engine.

I am not sure of its manufacture. I have it loose from above the carbs and already took the muffler out(the muffler is purple-ish) The expansion chamber is really fat and not much room between the side of the ski and motor.

You could unbolt the engine, being careful to note the location of the spacers, then re bolt the engine in the exact location again, so as not to have to realign it to the jet pump shaft.

Thanks Kustom,,,,,,,,,,,,I just looked at picts of other exhausts and not found a similar unit,,,,,,,this one is one piece from above carbs to the muffler. I will note my progress when I try to remove it this week.

Found the leak!! On the back of the head or block there is a 90deg brass fitting pointed towards the opposite head----one of the brass fittings was rubbed thru by the exhaust..Got it off and will reassemble in a day or so!
