Remove jet pump drive shaft with frozen floating ring attached question.

Have a 2023 FishPro Sport 100 hrs. Was looking at doing a carbon seal replacement, but floating ring ( aka hat) is frozen to shaft. If the bellows is cut/sliced and the carbon seal is broken away, can the shaft with the attached frozen hat be pulled thru the hull after the jet pump is removed. See Image. [EDIT] I suspect that the OD of the hat is larger than the ID of the plastic fitting that the bellows attaches to. Correct???

If so, I have access to machine shop where I can press the hat off the shaft to free it, and save myself from having to cutting the hat off, ( been there done that) and possibly damaging the shaft during the cutting - Also, sounds like it will be a lot easier to do without having to stand on my head to cut the hat from the shaft.

Just cut the collar off by cutting a slot 180 degrees apart. Very common saltwater problem. Probably videos on youtube.

I use a cut off fiber wheel in a pneumatic tool. Driveshaft is fairly hard, probably 57 HRC, but still no match for a cut off wheel so you have to be careful not to get into the driveshaft. Sometimes I cut it 95% through and then use a wedge punch and drive it sideways into the slot hoping it breaks it the rest of the way and wedges it open enough to remove it. Works sometimes when they are not completely rusted together.
