Rebuild and bearing clearance

Can anybody explain the proper way to measure main and rod bearing clearance on a 4tec sc

pretty sure it's like an automotive engine, plasti gauge install the crank along with the bearings, place a piece of plasti gauge on each of the crank journals, torque the main caps to spec, do not rotate the crank, remove the bearing caps and measure the whith of the squished plasti gauge. and see of it is within spec per repair manual. repeat same procedure with the rods.
