quick question.....

you'll have to undo/cut the metal band/ziptie that holds the dust boot to the driveshaft. If you got enough room to slide motor towards fuel tank, then no, but if not much room, then i suggest you pull the pump, makes install way easier.

Only takes a few minutes to pull/pop the pump assy off and remove the driveshaft.

Thanks I appreciate the help. I guess I may as well go ahead and pull the pump, if I must realign the new engine anyway. Know any place I can get an allignment tool for cheap?

Turns out I had a thrust washer go out. Here is a picture of my rotary valve cover, does it need replacing or can I get by with just sanding it down?

A lot of them look like this, save the metal shims under the mounts and place them back in when you get the motor back inside, as others said it is a lot easier and very little extra time to remove the pump, it may be time to inspect the inner working of the pump anyway.

Thanks for the information. I have the engine out. I did end up removing the pump. Got to try and rent a fly wheel puller so I can get the fly wheel off.
