Was looking at putting some msd battery quick disconnects on my 2000 seadoo xp. They're rated at 50 amps. Is that enough? Anybody use these, are they reliable? Do they come undone easily?

50amps. is plenty, my question is why? They're big and clumsy, expensive, in my opinion more trouble than they're worth. These are really for industrial applications. While I have never used these myself I have seen them used in electric fork lifts.

I hope I'm not being too blunt, but you asked for an opinion, that's mine.

Not too blunt at all. I appreciate your response, thank you. I actually got the idea from a forklift at work haha. The reason for wanting something like this is I keep stripping the screws on the battery and can't seem to get them tight enough. Just ran across some hot products "quick snaps" and think I like the design more as they don't look as clumsy, I'm just worried they might pop off. Anybody have some experience with these?

You are stripping them how? With a screwdriver? Use a wrench instead of the srewdriver slots if that is the case.

Yeah using a screwdriver. Can't use a wrench as they have round heads. Lately I've been using pliers but they are messing up the sides of the screws obviously. Also they come with little brass thingys so I have to battle with the rubber cover on the terminals and not drop the screws or brass in the hull. It doesn't take me long, just annoying. Trying to come up with an easier solution is all. Thanks, keep the suggestions coming

To expand on djredman99's idea, why dont you take your screws to an autoparts store (or a builders supply store) and find out what size it is. Then simply replace the screws with the hex type heads instead of your round heads, that way you can use a socket instead of the screw driver. This would be a really low cost solution and I am almost willing to bet the size is M6... but double check, thats just my guess :D

I was actually thinking about doing the same thing. The ski sits for long periods of time and I would like to easily be able to pull the battery and hook it to the float charger at the lake house. And I plan on doing the same thing for my RV. I just need to find an inexpensive option.

As another option they sell 10mm battery wrenches at harbor freight for $4.00. Not sure how well it would work.

My advice is to get something heavy duty. I had the quick disconnects for my SPX800 and it developed a bad connection. Mine were the gray rectangular ones off ebay I guess, came with the ski. They look real solid on the contact, but must corrode inside. If you get some, make sure you can take them apart and re-install/refurbish the connection.

Put a longer screw in the nut that comes with the battery. At least they came with mine. cut the head off of the screw and screw it into the nut. this way you have a nut with the bolt but no head. Then just get some wing nuts. Im going to do this with mine because I always drop the bolt or the nut. Thats a pain to retrieve under the motor. haha
