Quick and easy stator question

Getting my new 717 installed, need to pull and put the stator. The shop manual calls for uncrimping the wires and desoldering them, then resoldering and crimping them on install....is this the best method to do this? What a pain in the pecker, seems a connector would be far easier

You can just unpin the wires from the connector plug, just take a picture so they go back in the same spot.

That seems easier, I was thinking desoldering was a bit much

That was easy, pull the pins and pull them through. Side note, when reinstalling engine do not pinch pinky finger between engine and motor mount....ouch!
