Question about Winterizing and Spring Service

I've been told different things by two dealerships. The dealership I purchased from has told me that I need to Winterize and then bring it in for a Spring service as well. The dealership I plan on getting the service done at (closer to my house) has told me on newer skis the spring service is not needed. Eventually I will do my own servicing but for the two years I am under warranty I will be using the dealership. Which one is correct? Thanks in advance.

If you live in a winter environment, then a complete winterization is very important. Figs the engine, blows out the IC if you have one.

Spring service is nothing. Keep the battery on a Tender, not a charger, over winter. When I lived up north I left my batteries alone for 4-5 months. Then used a Tender.

Check levels and fire it up.

Thanks. I live near the OBX so winter isn't terrible overall but can get below freezing. I'll plan to have the dealership Winterize it but not worry about anything in the spring.

Perhaps if the dealer is located within a marina he plans to launch and test the boat for the spring service. Some of our customers request this for their peace of mind and confidence.

Occasionally when we fog/lubricate the engine using storage oil the spark plugs might be oil-fouled on spring startup and need to be replaced.

Otherwise the customer doesn't need to consult us prior to launching his boat assuming we did our job right and he is able to install/reconnect/maintain the battery himself.

Thanks for the info. The dealership I purchased from isn't in a marina and seems to have their hands in everything from four wheelers, to spyders, to multiple brands of side by sides, to well craft boats. I feel they were just mistaken in the information they provided me. Although, I did enjoy looking at the slingshots. Luckily we have a more specified dealership at OBX that I plan to be dealing with for future services while under warranty.

Your first spring startup should be outside. It will generate a big cloud of white smoke. No one told me! I filled my garage with smoke. My Wife had cell Phone in hand ready to call 911.
