i have a 96 gtx that went dead in the water after ten minutes of running with no warning, could this be bad mag thing be the problem? also getting 12v low and battery is charged. help! also i'm new here so please bear with me.

I say bull also!
There has to be a simple explanation to this problem. I'm no expert, but it has been my experience with electrical, that it either works or it doesn't. There is no "almost" about it.
If I were you I would go through ALL the electrical connections one by one and clean each one really good, then use dielectric grease and make sure they are tight.
