PWC fire... best procedure?

also keep in mind those little jet ski extinguishers have a capacity of about 8 seconds.

Well I haven't had to discharge mine luckily so far... but if you can't put the fire out in 8 seconds or less, I agree it's time to get the hell away from it!!! I'm not stupid you know!

i would think that jumping off would automatically shut off the engine since the lanyard is tethered to your wrist... or at least it should be!

Your Wrist!!! It goes on your wrist? oh, do I feel stupid now  Also explains all those funny looks I get.

My earlier joke was certainly a joke,,, That said,,,,

If my ski is on fire,,, I will be swimming. That is why we wear PFD's,,, So we can float with no struggles...

I never ride alone as I have two skis. I really could care less if it was to burn to the water line. I love my ski's and want nothing to happen to them. But,,, if there is a serious issue, I am perfectly fine swimming away from them. That is why I cover my ski's for REPLACEMENT cost, not worth cost.

Hmmmm.... I'm not in the same boat as you, Rob. I don't have mine insured, and I would rather fix smoke/fire damage than try to find another one just like mine. Michael

I am surprised you don't have your ski insured, especially since it is a newer ski. Both of my skis and brand new double trailer only cost $209 per year to insure. Theft, fire, towing accident, etc. and I am covered.

LOL, you have quite the sense of humor bigJake. If you become "aroused" by riding your skis, it is not suppose to be because of where you tethered your lanyard!

I didn't pay very much for it.... got it with a bent connecting rod in engine for a steal. It's in nice condition though and now that I've fixed the engine it runs very well! I've had my jetboat since 1989 and never had boat insurance. If I lived on the lake and could use the watercraft nearly every day in the summertime I'd be more inclined to buy insurance on them.... but it's almost an hour's drive to get to my favorite lake, and I don't have a girlfriend or anybody to go with me so I might only get to the lake like 12 times a year or so if I'm lucky.

It sucks being single around Houston, pretty much everything that airline pilot with the stuck-open mic was saying about Houston women is unfortunately true! :-(

If you found a 100 dollar bill on the ground, it is still worth 100 dollars even though you have NOTHING in it...

Your ski is worth the cost of insurance. My ski's and trailer is worth around 24 grand. I pay 309 a year and have a million dollar rider on top. So a bargain if I ever need it...

Hmmmm... that's like $25 a month. Who're you insured by? There was a discussion thread earlier this year I think about insurance and somebody said it was around $40 a month on average. Do you keep them insured year round? I really only use my boats like 6 months out of the year, the rest of the time they sit under my carport all covered up and locked down tight (I run a locking cable thru a wheel and around the frame, and lock the hitches too). Plus my security system with camera's everywhere!

ps. Machinery isn't quite the same as money... close, but not the same. These things lose value every year, no matter how well you care for and maintain them.

Jake, I've always said riding a SeaDoo is better than sex, especially at our age. You don't need to prove it.

lol, at my age it's a short ride too. sometimes I don't even make it out of the No Wake Zone before I head back to the dock. hell, sometimes I don't even bother putting the ski in the water. Just connect the hose and fire it up on the ramp and sit on it for a minute and I'm good.

Michael..

First,, our money is ALSO losing value every day,,,

I am insured through Progressive. It is year round as it was only 42 dollars less for seasonal coverage.

I do get a discount for multiple items insured as well as a Coast Guard discount. I retired after 23 years.
