purpose of the slider assm in the pump cone

when you take the three bolts off the cone for the jet pump assm whats the function of the slider peice and the plastic peice witht he spring? any ideas on how it goes back together?

It was made to dampen the rattle of the cone. Some of the older skis didn't have them and made a rattling noise.

Before you torque the cone back down insert a pencil or any other plastic tool in the hole and push on the slider tab. Hold it in whole tighten the screws. Remove pencil or tool to release it.

well that explains it thnx alot! when i took it off the sping kinda poped out at me and evrything is there a speical way it goes in i cant figure it out

installing that anti ratlle cone.. if u install it wrong can you chew up a wear ring?

I once took a gun apart and two springs flew out from somewhere
I completely understand that "sinking" feeling!!!!

You can't cause a wear ring problem, but it will be noisy because of it not having the load of the water on. When the spring weakens it rattles while running on the hose. The impeller shaft has no pressure on the shaft or thrust washer, causing the rattle.
