I have send my 98 seadoo challenger to have wear rings replaced. The mechanic said the previous use some type of silicon instead of a Neoprene Gasket. The problem is that he can't remove the pump. Does anyone have any suggestions? He concerned on breaking the housing. He have put a lot of pressure at this point with not results.

Thanks,

Tim

This is kind of funny,,this is a common thread on here,,,no disrespect to the tech,,,we have all been there…
so
here goes,,,normally the rtv silicone goes around the 2 bilge tube fittings,,, and the cooling fitting fir the motor,,,that seal can be “fairly” easily broken,,,but if someone has put rtv all around the pump…well now it is a 2 man job,,,

leave the nozzle on…have 2 of you with long enough pry bars,,,such that one will, pry from the top and one from the bottom…you can also try to pry from side to side against the pump in the hull,,using an appropriate wooden fulcrum,,, you don‘t want to damage the side of the hull…it’s all having the perfect pry bars and appropriate fulcrum pivot points,,,usually,,,I can do it by myself…pry from the top,,,pry from the bottom,,,with 2 guys prying at the same time against the top and bottom edge of the nozzle,,,gets the job done.
