Machine is a 01 gtx DI. I pulled the jet cone to change oil as part of end of season maintenance and just water came out no oil at all. Looks clean, no chunks of bearing etc.
has anyone seen this? Maybe the last guy never changed oil, I bought this machine couple month ago and it drove perfect last time on the lake.I’ve got a new oring and the right oil, just not sure if this is something more serious like I need to rebuild the whole assembly?

What you described happened to me, except I didn't pull the cone in time. Instead, the bearings seized while at full throttle on the water, and basically welded the impeller to the shaft. I could not remove the impeller from the shaft and ended up having to buy a complete pump/impeller.

To prevent this, you'll probably want to remove the impeller and the shaft to inspect/replace the bearings at a minimum. If they were run without oil, they are likely damaged.

Does the bearing look good and spin well,,,, the front pump seal is leaking for sure, replace it,,,you can also replace the cone "O" ring.

It probably just happened to you and you caught it in time, some of us haven't been as fortunate. Shit melts and welds together when the oil is displaced with water. You could be losing oil from a couple places, in my case the seal at the impeller end was installed backward and the rubber was brittle.

After rebuilding it, it's recommended to pressure test it to see if it'll hold in oil before filling.

Thanks for everyone’s help, I’ve ordered a rebuild kit, going to attempt installing, I have a press so should help?

Yes, the press will help but follow the factory service manual exactly as you have to press the bearings and seals into a very specific depth. You can't just press them in until they stop.
