Hi all. I'm new here but a member on a couple motorcycle forums. I've been involved in 2-strokes for about 12 years now and a buddy from church asked me to put together this 92 XP he had sitting in his shop for like 3 years.
The engine came with the pistons inside the cylinders already,
, but not attached to the rods,
. Everything else came in the box in pieces. Well, I got the entire motor together and set in the hull, but since I didn't take it apart, I have no idea what hoses and electrical components go where. I have the service manual and have a good idea about many things, but am unsure. I was wondering if someone had a pic to post up of the inside so I might "how to" this as a reference?
Also, I'm am very frustrated with this "rotary valve supply hose". In the service manual, pg 188, under engine installation, number 7, it says to reconnect the rotary valve supply hose. On pg 184, I see it and see where it goes, but have no clue what the other end of this hose connects to, so don't know what I am looking for in the hull. The hose that I thought it was connects in the aft by the jets, (it's the only one inside the hull large enough to fit that male end). I then turned to chapter 8, figure 1 on pg 483, and it looks to me that the rotary valve is on the side of the motor with the carbs, but I don't see any place I should connect this "supply hose" to. I then turn back to pg 183 and reference figure 10, the rotary valve oil return line, and see it is on the side with the carbs, but on this motor in my garage, that port isn't there, just the water port that leads into the heads. I then rotate the motor in the hull, and notice a port on that side, in about the same place as this one, (sticking out between the cylinders), and wonder where it leads as I can't find any pics on it,
. So now I don't know where the other end of this rotary valve supply hose connects to, and stopped working on it as I don't want to screw something up. Any insights on helping me here.
I'd be more than willing to post pics but never have in my other forums, so if anybody wants to see, I can do so tonight, just tell me how to post them and if they need edited in photobucket or wherever, (tell me where), and I'd be more than happy to post.
Goal is to get it running by friday, break it in saturday on the Columbia, and have him take it to a mountain lake next week so I can start taking apart my uncle's quad. I know this is long but I'm really stumped and need some how to help quick. Thanks in advance!
