I recently purchased this ski with less than 80 hours on the engine. Ran great the first day, but on the second, the check engine light came on and when we got it to my dock it stalled out. Now I have no power or any beeping when plugging in the key.
Any ideas on what is causing this?

Put the lanyard on and press the SET button 5 times. That should give you a Pxxxx code. Let us know what that code is so we can better determine what's causing the problem.

do the gauges sweep when you connect the lanyard? anything happen at all or is the ski acting like it has a completely dead battery? It very well may? Have you checked the battery? Are your battery terminals tight? any corrosion ? I would start with the basics and eliminate them first.. Look inside and make sure all your wireharness connections are good and tight and corrosion free. Unplug connections one at a time, with a flashlight at each one to ensure no corrosion exists... If everythinbg looks good the next step would be to elimate the battery as the potential source of your issues... Check the battery and terminal connections. How old is it? When batteries go sometimes they do some funky things that cause all kinds of electrical issues... Although it was running rough before the ski cut out would tend to say the battery is not the source of the issue.. The battery could have caused an issue with the stator, blowing a fuse, etc. If you verify all connections are good, you have a good battery properly connected and no blown fuses then I would say you've got bigger issues.. but do all of the above first...

Thank you for the reply. It was running great even after the check engine light came on. I shut it off at my dock and went to restart it to check the error code and it was/is totally dead. no lights, nothing. It was too late last night to get it out of the water & trailer from my dock but I plan on doing it after work and will check all the connections. Sounds like I may now have two problems. I will post what I find out.
Appreciate the help

You may not have two problems. Sounds like your problem is the battery and/or connections. A weak battery can cause these skis to do weird things and cause "phantom" problems.

I got it powered up enough to get the error code = P1681 Communcation error. Any idea on were I go from here?

Quick update - Pulled the ski out and have it at the house now. Checked the battery and could not get a good reading on it but it looked like the original so I went ahead and ordered a new battery and should have it installed by Friday. I will update the board on the results. Have my fingers crossed.

While taking out the old battery which had 7/2010 scribbed on it from the previous owner, I discovered a very loose connection to the post that is under the vent hose, which is why I was getting the communication error. Installed the new battery and it runs fantastic.
Thanks to everybody who contributes to this mssg board.

Battery power and connections are crucial...
Glad you are up and running...
