i have a 1998 gtx limited that has got me CONFUSED. While doing my spring check the ski wouldnt crank, the solenoid would click one time. Went ahead and pulled the carbs for cleaning and checked the starter. Put everything back together and tried again with a charged battery. Still clicks, crossed the terminals and the motor will spin. OK easy fix. New solenoid. Bought it, put it on and nothing. No click. Dead silence. I get the Two beeps but hit the button, nothing. Put the old solenoid back on hit the button.....clicks, hit it again and the click gets faint, ect until nothing. Checked all fuses and wires. Solenoid came from Seadoo but was superceded from another part number. ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Remove the spark plugs and try to spin the motor by hand and if doea not spin remove the jet pump(to eliminate the chance of seized pump) and try again if will not spin the motor seized up

Took the pto cover off, with plugs in, grabbed an allen wrench and spun motor three compression strokes. Also spins good if you cross terminals. Never seen anything like it. Im stumped........

When u say cross the terminals u are putting the pistons on the negative and negative on positive??? If so then u must have the wires crossed at the starter I would think

Battery, Battery Cables

I would check the battery cables and cable ends, just because they look O.K. doesn't mean they are. Wiggle the cables, if they crunch you have corrosion inside the cables.

Also check the capacity of the battery, you can take your battery to most auto parts stores and they will test it free. It's kinda like in your car when your battery has enough capacity to run the radio but not start your car. You can try jumping the battery on your ski, be sure the donor vehicle is NOT running, to be safe I disconnect the terminals from the donor vehicle.

Thanks Lou, i have a spare marine battery. I will put it on charge overnight and try it tomorrow. I hope its that simple.

Like he said u need to be sure the battery and cables can handle the load it sounds like a weak battery charge it overnight and give it a go again
