Building a 99 XPL for winter. Just got cylinders back from being bored over. Unfortunatly my machine guy knows nothing about jetski porting

Who should i send my cyls to have ported? Anyone on here do it at home on the side?

Don’t even attempt it. These are pretty much maxed out from the factory. Unless you want toasted engines all summer don’t mess with it.

If you must mess with it send them to Group K. They make reliable horsepower. I wouldn’t let anyone but them touch mine.

Honestly the 951 is pretty maxed out and temperamental bone stock. You have to figure it is a 130 HP 2 cylinder. All the other manufacturers went to 3 cylinder 1100's to get that kind of power.

It can be done but you are asking for reliability and longevity problems.

I suggest leaving it stock and just an impeller upgrade. Sabertoothsquirl here has an impeller suggestion for the 951 XP's but I forget what it is.

Ive got a worx intake grate, was going to get a solas prop, just didnt know what pitch to go with. Ive got grate for getting outa the hole quicker, id like a prop for good top speed.

An intake grate will not get you out of the hole quicker. They will help keep you hooded up in rough water better but that isn't really a problem for the 97+ XP hulls and they will reduce top speed due to more drag.

A good impeller can help with both out of the hull and top speed but it isn't going to be night and day.
