Portable jump pack

I know its bad to use a boost charger to jump a ski but is it OK to use the small portable ones to jump them?

I wouldn’t since you are risking hundreds of dollars if you fry your MPEM.

If you have to jump it then something is wrong with the DOO and has to be fixed.

Need to find out how many hours are on a ski i am looking at with a dead battery.

I think it will be ok to use to check hours. Is it a lithium type or lead acid type jump pack?

I have both, 1 of the really small portable ones or a larger Snap On lead acid type.

They say a lead acid jump pack is safer for jump starting, the lithium ones have a diode that prevents the alternator from recharging the lithium battery. I don't know why jumping seadoos destroys them, maybe they were poorly engineered, but just powering the gauge to get the hours reading either type of jump pack should be fine.
