Hello All,

I am new to the forum and to Jet Ski's for that matter. I have read through many posts here on this forum before making my purchase (thanks for the great resource and for the excellent inforrmation.)

I just purchased a '08 GTX last night. The Ski will be prepped and ready in the morning (Saturday).

So, I have a couple of questions:

1. Ceramic vs. Metal. Does the 2008 fix the problem I've read with the rings for the supercharger? If not, should I replace them even through the Ski is brand new? I asked my dealer about this and he didn't know if Ski Doo changed them to metal. He also added that he thinks that the issue was due to people using synthetic oil, rather than the rings themselves. Not sure what to think here - or if I should even be worried about it.

2. The manual states that I should change out the oil/filter after 10 hours. This makes sense to me, but the dealer suggests a $320 full system check after 20 hours. Do you all agree?

3. Lastly,is there anything else I should ask about prior to leaving the dealership? It's only a couple of hours away, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks again!

Welcome to the seadoo forum marcomman. I have heard that the 08 version has had the supercharger issues updated. I believe that the main issues was using synthetic oil and not the recommended mineral oil.

I'm sure the dealer would love to have you come in for the 20 hr service at $320.00. The manual states that the 10 hour service is the first service. If you have a different warranty that states you have to have it in at that point than do that. I would do what is recommended in your warranty papers you signed. It could be an issue late if you didn't abide by the suggested service.
Lastly you could ask what they recommend about the proper break in procedure. Most everybody on the forum has their own ideas on break in procedures, and opinions vary. I agree with what seadoo factory suggest, and would ask the servicing dealer his recommendations and keep it in mind while breaking it in. The key is not to over heat it, or high rev it for an extended amount of time till it is past the first 10 hrs. of use.
I'm sure others will chime in here as this is a friendly forum with lots of active members.
Now go have fun and enjoy that machine.

Karl
