I am attempting to install carbs from a '96 GTX (657x) on to a 720 engine I don't know the year of this 720 but I do know the GTX MAG carb only has 3 hose conections...Pulse,fuel in and fuel return. my question is, does the return line from the mag carb connect to the input of the pto carb. Can't find much info on the subject.

if they're carbs from a 96 GTX, then they're TOO BIG. Those carbs are 40mm, which also, that yr gtx(96), was a 787cc motor.

If they are 40mm carbs, then find a single manifold 720...98/99gs,gti..etc, and run the 1 carb...if ur mistaken about the carbs..yr/mdl...then, but since you say "carbs", then leave the way its hooked up, and transfer to the 720, using same manifold from gtx, to the 720.

use the intake manifold from the gtx....no need to remove carbs and swap to 720, just remove the entire unit...manifold, carbs..and install to 720

That would have been my 1st choice but when the GTX self destructed it shatered the case as well as the pto side of the intake manifold. At this point I just need someone to explain to me what line goes where on a dual carb setup where the PTO carb has only 2 fuel connections and a pulse line.

Thanks

ok, we can throw that idea out da window....On the 2-carbs, the bottom fitting of the MAG goes to the bottom fitting on the PTO...those fittings, face themselves. The top 2 fittings, 1 on each, are your RETURN lines, and the other/siver fitting on the MAG, is the pulse....

That leaves me no fuel input to the mag carb.Remember there are only 3 hose conections on the mag carb....pulse and 2 fuel lines. the only thing I can think of is the return line on the mag feeds the input on the pto.I should have been more observant when taking it apart

The manifold is irrelevant when hooking up the fuel lines. On those carbs, you hook up the return line from the MAG carb to the fuel inlet on the PTO carb. There is no return restrictor in the MAG carb, it uses the return restrictor in the PTO carb.
I hope this clears it up for you.
