Periodic Whine and Clicking When Lanyard Off

I have two 2005 Wake models. One of them started to make a whine then clicking sound every 10 seconds or so with the lanyard off. It drained the battery so I disconnected and recharged the battery but when I reconnected it the same noises started. When I put the lanyard on the noises stop. It seems to run fine.

Anyone run into this?

Replace the DESS post, it is stuck on.

Disconnect the DESS post and see if it stop's.
