Changed out my fram fuel filter at the start of the season. Fuel tank was emptied last season when Replaced the baffle. I am using premix but did last year as well. Less than 5 hours on the ski this year and started to hesitate at full throttle. When I looked at the filter, it was filled with yellow fibers. The filter is right next to the carb intake. Looked at the stock Seperator and not much in there. Pulled the filter off and could barely blow air into the filter. Not sure if the filter was breaking down or what the heck the gunk was. All new black fuel lines two years ago. Anyhow saw some threads on google search on not using paper filters on marine applications. Changed out my fram filter to an inline glass screen filter.

Why not just use the stock system? It is all I have ever used and never had a clogged carb.

Guess it was out of fear and feedback from others that use them. When I rebuilt my carbs I was amazed at how much junk was in the carb filters. Now most of it was goo from the tempo lines.

When I get a new to me ski I drain and clean the fuel tank and replace the complete strainer and selector valve. Never had a clogged carb filter. The second inline filter always worries me for fuel starvation.
