i just bought 2 -2002 Sea Doo GTX 4 tec limited's and wanted some advice on what is the thought on running the OPS or a block off plate. If it's the block off plate then what brand and where can I get it. both are missing off one ski and wanted to know where to buy the OPS flaps to replace them or as I was told at the Lake of the Ozarks yesterday ,block them. Any and All thoughts will be appreciated, thanks and have an awesome 4th!!!

Okay.....what's "both" missing from one ski? Unless you're gonna be going faster than say....72mph...I wouldn't bother taking the opas off. Just block them up with a 2" long piece of 1/2" pvc.

If it's the opas that're missing...then I'd block them off....inexpensive....$20 or so. The real question is....why are they missing?

Here's how I blocked mine up

Get rid of 'em!

Take them off, and put the RIVA intake grate on while you're at it. I was in a bit of rough water 3 weeks ago and ripped the left vein bracket in half ... yea ocean ... big waves! I considered replacing the broken parts, but then though there's nothing the prevent a repeat bracket failure, so I blocked them off.

I found mine on ebay ... http://www.ebay.com/usr/hydrostream85?_trksid=p2047675.l2559

Be aware this kit is not designed for the '02 GTX. The distance between the screw holes on the jet-pump side plates is 1 3/8", but distance between the RIVA plate centers is 1 5/8", so you have to reclock the plates and drill new holes. It was a bit of a pain, but it worked like a charm.

yeah...those'll work.

I want the ones...Lacey makes them I think...like the old RE's used to be...continue the outside line of the hull. But they're over $350 a set...so...not anytime soon. heh

We are at the Lake of the Ozarks and we parked them on a pull on style PVC lift that was not designed to clear the OPS fins , and it broke both sides on the verticle plastic mounts. I removed the fins and we have been riding it without them and have not noticed much if any difference in handling from the other one. Thank You for your feedback it helped alot.
