I have a Seadoo GTX 2000 and it won't go faster than 40 mph @ 5700 rpm's. I don't have the 950cc engine. I think it's the 757cc or somewhere close to that. Is this typical or does something need to be tweeked or replaced? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a whole lot of fun at 39mph-

Can someone tell me what's the top speed and top rpm this ski is supposed to be hitting?

Thanks again,

3 choices

951 Carbed

951-DI

787-RFI

Pull the RAVES and inspect/clean them, and install new plugs. Start with easy stuff

I can def. change the plugs. Do you have to be an expert to pull the rave valves? What do you think the top speed should be along with the RPM's? The gauge says 70 so I would assume 40 mph wouldn't be the top speed.

thanks for the words of advice~

Compression test will tell ya a lot of the motor condition and whether it will go more, maybe tired out or burnt from fuel system negligence.

the 951 raves are cake to remove/install. The 787 motor, the mag rave not so easy. Remove the caps and springs underneth, then on the mag rave, use a 10mm socket/wrench and turn the piston/bellow, til it unscrews from the valve, you might wanna remove the pto rave first, so yuo can see how its done, that one, just remove the 2-allen bolts on the housing and carefully lift up, so yuo dont rip the gasket, if gaskets' stuck, use a flathead screwdriver and "walk" it around the bottom of gasket to pop it off, then you got assy now in your hand. Inspect it, then proceed to remove the mag rave assy. Wire brush/wire wheel them clean, then re-install.

Make sur the "notched" opening on the rave housing is facing the exhaust pipe assy, so the "boost" holes line up, and that the valves/guitines are installed correctly, with "TOP" facing toward the head of motor

Voodoo, we did a compression test and it tested fine. This is why i'm so confused. I will put new plugs in and clean off the valves and see if that does the trick. The ski has around 63 hours and seems to run fine. Just not a lot of power and high 30's isn't a whole lot of fun...

thanks again guys!

2000 GTX Seadoo not running right.

So I posed a question a couple of weeks ago and have tried to trouble shoot my 2000 SeaDoo GTX. My seadoo hasn't been running smooth for quite some time (sputtering, going slow- max 39 mph). I had the gas tank and fuel pump cleaned and was told to clean the rave valves and spark plugs. I was getting about 39mph until I messed with the Rave Valves. I cleaned them like the manual said but guess I did something wrong. My question is- is there a proper way of re-installing the rave valves or does the sputtering sound like I did something wrong when I put them back in after I cleaned them?
