I took my 97 challenger out for the first time this year. It started ok and went acroos the lake and came back to pick up more people, when we went to go only one engine would turn on, the other just makes a clunk sound like something is locked up. Any suggestions?

Take the spark plugs out and see if you can turn the PTO by hand. If you can turn it see if you can tell if it's hitting on something in the engine or the pump. Perhaps you sucked something up in pump or something let go in engine. Report back what you find.

I have the same problem with one engine on a Challenger 1800. With plugs out the pto turns freely, with plugs in it locks up. I put the starter and solenoid from the good engine on this one and it made no difference.

Check your battery cables. You may have one that has internal corrosion.
