You guys may see it on the Seadoo classifieds....I just set up a quickie ad to see if I get any interest.

I saw a 2009 red Challenger 180 and I nearly climaxed in the showroom :conehead:

So far I'm thinking this is the erecti.....I mean direction I'm going if my boat sells. If it doesn't I'll continue on enjoying it.

Tomorrow I'll add a bunch of pics.

They are sharp looking!

I know...they are very sharp looking. It has that really angular shape to it. I agree that you need to sea trial one before you jump..

They are a fantastic looking boat. I just wish they had the interior room of the Utopias. BRP really needs to bring back the 185 U-boat with the Rotax, or build a 190 Challenger.

Aaron:cheers:

Aaron,

I looked at the trailer and boat and with tongue folded the bow nose is exactly vertically even with the trailer so trying to slide the boat forward on the trailer will not gain me anything. :-(

It was a great idea though.

Very pleased with my U boat...

We were just out today again with our friends and their family. With all the stuff from the families, my wife and I commented how glad we are to have the boat size of the Utopia. I don't know how you are going to do it. Go for the sea trial first....:seeya:

Thats a nice boat man. Do you know how much it weights with all the liquids on it?

Mine is also on Craigslist. asking $5500 I got a few leads but i have not called anyone back. I think ill do so today see what happens.

Weight

CJ,

I'm guessing the wet weight is around 2900 pounds. But thats just a guess. The boat weighs 2570 dry so figure 44 gallons of fuel, acouple gallons of oil, couple gallons of coolant etc..

We pull it with our V6 Hyundai Veracruz and its no problem at all.

I've got a 180 and it is a great boat. I wonder how it would be to down size though. One thing I think you will notice is how it acts in choppy water. The smaller the boat the more it bounces around. We had 7 people in the boat on Sunday and with a lot of people out on the lake I'd guess the chop was 2-3 ft. Its a constant job of steering and adjusting throttle. Definitely an 'exciting' ride. Women and children may not likey compared to the bigger boat.

Also, you mentioned families. Like I said we had 7 people on the boat and it was fine. BUT that means the bare minimum of 'stuff' per person. As in we share sunblock, only bring 3-4 towels and the girls have to consolidate their purses (this never goes over well). It always amazes me how much stuff people bring to the house thinking they need on the water. I never let them take 90% and they end up finding out they don't need it all anyway. Again though, coming from a bigger boat this may be hard to get used to.

Food for thought. Either way your boat or the 180 are both great rides!

Yes i was going to ask you that. whats the towing rating on the Veracruz. The Ford Edge we have is rated at 3500lbs and has a class 3 hitch. Is it the same for the Veracruz?

My Pacifica pulled my Utopia 205SE just fine

There isn't a problem with the uni-body suv. We have class III hitch installed and it is just fine.

I picked up my boat from Minnesota and drove 5 1/2 hour back. We cruise right about 70 and had no problem whatsoever. Yes, you can tell that you are pulling a boat and when you went over some of those hill, you do know it but it was definitely not an issue. There was no wagging and I even had to get it up to 75 to pass a few times..:hurray:

Same

CJ,

Yes our Veracruz is rated at 3500 as well. Like Jim says, these vehicles pull it no problem. I like the Edge. if I'm not mistaken it too has about a 265hp engine. No problem for the Utopia....You'll just have to buy someone elses because it looks like mine sold.

That’s great news. I started looking at the financing and insurance and storage and it was going to be to much. Looks like ill be staying put with my c1800 for some time.

Post pics of the new boat when you get it

The 2007 Utopia 205 weights just over 3600lbs with the trailer so it is at the limits of both of your tow vehicles (though most of the tow ratings for cars these days is very conservative) if they are rated for 3500lbs. A class 3 hitch is more then enough (rated for 7500lbs).

I too am looking at possibly getting a Challenger. I can get a new 07 Challenger SE OTD for 17k. Is that a good price?

Assuming its brand new, then no that's not a bad price at all. Sounds like a pretty good deal. Esp sinse they are offering that ext. warranty on '07 & '08 models.

yes, that is brand new. They still have quite a few 07s and 08s. All of the 2007s are the gold color. The SE is 17k otd and the non SE is 16k OTD. The 2008s and 2009s are quite a bit more. I think he said 6k more for an 09.

Heres a link to their add. This is the same place I bought my 2007 from. I drove out there from Arizona to pick it up because they were so much cheaper there.
