hello,

I posted awhile ago about having excessive oil in the crankcase of my 1995 Sea Doo XP. I've pulled the motor, and it turns out that the magneto crankseal is leaking and now probably the inner seals too.

however, i volume tested the oil pumpt and it's putting out the same amount of oil as the manual specs when the lever is not engaged. I did not test it when the lever is fully engaged, but is it possible for the pump to be putting out far too much oil at "idle?"

I'm thinking about going to pre-mix when I get the engine back.

pre mix rocks - i alway recomend it after major engine work . i even premix the fuel for the mowers and atv just a tad bit . also i bet i replaced 10 oil pump cables this year , if that puppy breaks your up that certain creek with out a paddle . cheap peace of mind dude . what was she doing before ?

I've done some research online and it seems that most sea doo technicians say these pumps rarely fail.... i think maybe my bench test wasn't very accurage. i'm going to go get a proper drill to use, and a graduated cylinder (last time i just measured an oil cap and calculated its volume.)

the original problem was oil in the crankcase. pulled the motor and it's leaking out the magneto side so probably the inner seals are done too.

i've heard bad things about sbt.. i found a guy on ebay from pennsylvannia called east coast cycle centre.

anyone have experience with them?

If the cable breaks, the pump defaults to wide open and the only problem you will have is using too much oil.

:agree: I used East Coast Cycle and they were great to deal with. Rebuilt my 951.

Thanks for getting back to me everyone.

i think we're going to ship the motor to east coast cycle...

Chester, have you ever heard of a pump that pumps too much oil at idle? There is a good chance that my bench test was flawed...
