Oil line ? 787

1/2" on the Rotary bath, 5/16" for the pump inlet supply and 3/32" for the injector lines ~Tygon line is what you seek

osdparts.com sells awesome tubing that is specifically rated for oil. It's a little expensive, but absolutely worth it imo.

awsome, thanks for the info. Where is the best place to get it?
I can find it locally at Napa auto parts, Grainger Supply, a couple OPE dealer's have it on hand and you might try your local farm stores like TSC, Rural King etc. for it as Tygon is widely used in Agriculture applications.

12 mm is .472 inches. 7/16" is .4375", and 1/2" is .5" obviously. I would rather have it a little smaller than have it too big and loose but that is just my preference. I got 3/8" vinyl tubing from lowes over that nipple once in a pinch, I later moved up to the 7/16 but it still fit. I think the 1/2 is just a little too much slop for me, but I'm sure it works fine. I just don't want leaks

-Will the vinyl tubing be ok for oil? I have a ace hardware I frequent, and they have spools of all diameter hosing. Clear vinyl. Im looking to replace the 3/32" hoses that go to oil injectors beneath carbs....

You can find 3/32" Tygon at any parts counter at a lawn and garden dealer or hobby shop that sells alcohol fueled RC toy's and it's a much better choice than just clear vinyl, you've got a whole lot riding on the integrity of those two injection lines.

I just did some research on it, didn't know it was r/c car fuel line haha. Makes me want to go dig out my collection of cars and boats.

Yep, im replacing it this winter, as the factory lines are still on there, and id like to prevent a major catastrophe.

It has been a LONG time since I actually bought injector line but I had a friend down the street tell me last night that he needs enough for a couple of ski's, with the price by the foot being so high, we thought that maybe we'd just split the cost of a 50 ft roll and i'd never have to think about it again.

So I poked around the web and now have a question, doesn't the REAL tygon line have tygon stamped on the side of it ?

I don't want to buy some knockoff crap, or does it not really matter ?

It does (or at least it did when I bought a roll from McMaster~Carr) but my two local sources are blank slates from the rolls they take out of the box and cut as needed I assume that stuff is from the Chi-Coms.

yea, I bought a roll of the vinyl tubing bc it was cheap...even think I remember seeing the reinforced white braiding inside of it...but then a seasoned vet on here told me to not use them, so I returned them and bought more white lithium grease.... I LOVE WHITE LITHIUM GREASE! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOFAnpb8I3E

get the stuff from osdparts. it's the correct size and type.

I've gone the hardware store routes only to have stuff leak, not seal right, etc.

ahh i didnt realize they sold it at osd. I will buy mine from there. it looks like they are out on vacation until the 13th of november tho.

osd parts is $1.99 a dam foot !!!! not a chance, I looked there before I started my search.

$8 is too much for 4'? That's more than enough for a 787, provided that's all you need.

Real genuine Tygon will come in a box like the one in the ebay link. I wouldn't but the 50' roll not in a box, I smell Chinese, and it's not General Tso's.

Yeah im with racer, it seems like a really decent price to me. It seems to be over 3 per foot at McMastter Carr online. I mean if rubber fuel line is like 1.50 foot, and this stuff is better and clear, i can see why it would be a little more expensive.

Tygon is just a brand name, they make tubing out of many different materials, Plastic, Thermoplastic, Silicone, Fluoropolymer, PVC, Polyurethane, etc. So be sure that when buying from a non automotive supplier you check the applications for the tygon tubes you are buying and that it will withstand gas and oil.

To be honest I still think the OEM lines are the best, they seem to stay softer longer. I have tygon lines from McMaster that are 2-3 years old and find that they are getting stiff already. Not stiff enough to swap them out but I thought they would stay softer longer.

If I knew the brand of the OEM lines and could buy the same material from another supplier other then the dealer, I would do that.

Spim, email them, maybe you can cut at deal at 50'

I only need like 6'. I used some stuff from a friend for the hoses that run from the pipe to the cooling indicator and after 2-3 years they got hard, brittle, and I wasn't a fan.

the OEM stuff says flexible for YEARS... 14+ years and it's still like new.

where do you get the actual OEM stuff?

SBT also only sells 25' rolls... I only need a few feet... so while it's more per foot, my total cost was lower.

My napa, oreillys, auto zone, and advance dont have the tygon fuel line. they all want to sell me black fuel like. Could I use that for the one to the block and return and the one to the oil pump. I have 25' of the small tygon for the little oil lines.
