Oil Light

I just purchased a 96 sportster. I was concerned about the kind of oil the previous owner was putting in it. So I decided to empty the tank and fill with new oil. When I put the key in I get the 2 beeps and the oil light stays on for approximately 20 seconds then goes off. Is this something that I should be concerned about? Is the oil tank supposed to be filled all the way to the top?

Gotta love the 720's. Treat'm to BRP for an extended motor lifetime, IMO. Bills86e
Never mix oil brands.

Thanks again for the great advice!! All the help has been great because owning a boat is completely new for us. This forum has helped us become more confident to get into this hobby. Look forward to sharing pictures of the before and after of our 96 Sportster
