Has anyone found a way to get the oil level sensor grommet seperately yet? I hate to spend $70-100 for a bad grommet. Any other way to fix it? Thanks.

I just took pulled the old one, and went to the local hardware store with the old one and matched it. It cost me like $2.00.

Is this the grommet that is on the bottom of the oil reservoir? Is yours leaking? I seem to be getting an amazing puddle of oil in the bottom of the boat and I am trying to figure out where the hell its coming from.....

This is the grommet around the oil level sensor on the top of the tank. I've only found it available with the complete oil level sensor assembly. It appears to be proprietary. I was hoping someone knew of a discount outlet for Seadoo parts that might sell this seperate as a maintenance item.

Kustomkarl, do you think that a standard 2 sided grommet would push in first and then push in the oil level sensor into that? I'm not near my boat, but that could work if the bottom section is as small as the top section. Is the oil sensor a standard size for the I.D. of the grommet?

I owned a 1997 Challenger, I sold a couple years ago, and I think I just got one at a hardware store if memory serves me right. Get the old one out and see if it can be matched. I either did that or just got it from a seadoo dealer. I do remember it was real cheap.

No deal at the dealer - sensor assy or nothing. I'll try the hardware next week.

Thanks for the help, and if you remember for sure it was from the dealer, please post.

mine does the same too...i accidentally pushed that red nozzle that extends outward from the bottom of the oil reservoir sideways and damaged the grommet ,so now it's leaking.. my question is,,is there a thread or nut on that grommet which i can tighten to get rid of the oil leak??

...oh,and i bought a gallon of Evinrude 2 stroke synthetic oil. will that work??
my boat is 97 seadoo challenger 787

i ask the guy from the boat store if the evinrude oil will work,he said "yes, two stroke is a 2 stroke.no matter what engine"... so i bought it.....

No 2 stroke oil is not all the same. Here is the correct oil to use;
Recommended oil and fuel use.

Use High quality low ASH API TC Injector oil.
Do Not use NMMA TC-W, TC-W2 or TC-W3 outboard motor oils or other ash less type 2 cycle oil. Avoid mixing different brands of API TC oil as resulting chemical reaction will cause severe engine damage. Never mix Mineral or Synthetics oil together. Synthetic and Synthetic Blend seadoo oil is a good selection.

Never use fuel containing more than 10 % alcohol,( Methanol or Ethanol) as severe damage will occur. The minimum of 87 octane is recommended for most engines. Remember to use an Ethanol additive to your fuel to help with the Ethanol fuel.

As for the grommet there is nothing to tighten. You need to replace the leaky grommet.

I hope this helps.
