787 motor...
I pulled my ski out a few weeks ago then went on vacation to Florida, and it sat for another week after that. I had the tongue of the trailer jacked way up with the help of a floor jack during all that time.
I went to winterize it today and I noticed a lot of oil in the bilge near the drain plugs.....maybe 10-14 oz. I suctioned it all out, then felt around for oil leaks.
1.The bottom of the tank grommet was dry.
2. The lower nipple of said grommet had some on it.
3. Also did the end of the line to the pump. I had worm clamps on both. I tightened the pump line about 1/2 turn.
I saw no oil dripping/running on the inside of the hull from the oil tank to the very back...so it may have stopped in the mean time.(since I pulled it out of the water)
I removed the line on the grommet nipple and I could see a small puncture under the worm part of the clamp.
Would that be enough to leak oil out being it's under the "strap" of the clamp?
I went to Advance & O'Reillys and neither had the correct size clear tubing for oil. Down the street is my favorite lawn mower place. The owner races Ski-Doos too. Actually he had a rebuilt Rotax sitting on a shelf waiting to be picked up by the owner. I asked if that's a 787 he said actually it's now a 793. (how did it gain only 6)?.
But anyways he gave a short piece of tubing and 4 (2 extra) spring clamps to use instead. I used one on the oil filter fitting but couldn't get the other over the barb on the grommet fitting (tough getting both hands in there along with pliers) so I used another worm clamp....after leaking more oil into the hull
I also bled the lines today.
Any other spot oil can leak from? I had clamped the oil line to the side of the motor over last winter but it sat outside all summer without being used ...I know
. It had some oil in the hull when I pulled it out of the water a few weeks ago but not this amount......
any ideas???
