oil leak 1999 GSX RFi

any advice please Seadoo GSX RFi 1999 787cc

We just removed the engine from the ski as we found 2-stroke oil leaking from the rear of the disc valve shaft (opposite side to the disc valve), It looks like a core plug which, we eventually found laying in the bottom of the hull.

Is this a common problem as i cannot find the part described or listed in the parts manual.

Here is a pic of it, i really don't know if to just bash it back in since its a lot of work lifting the motor back out if it falls out again!!
