I just purchased a 1998 speedster and they were premixing the oil and gas. My question is there anything that I need to check to make sure it was disconnected properly, should I be concerned with it. It looks as if the oil lines were just disconnected. I have read about taking off the injector and putting a plate on it. Can anyone tell what shoud be done.

Keep some extra plugs on hand, if you have a no wake zone close to your launch location you will find yourself wanting the extra plugs, at least you can try switching them to burn off the stuff, or maybe you will decide to fix and adjust the oil level from the OEM system that gradually sends in more oil when the rpms go up.

So voodoo your saying that just disconnecting the oil lines will not effect the engine as long as I premix properly?

Wrong, you'll need to keep the oil line connected to the case. The one that DOES NOT have the oil filter inline. Theres whats called a RV assy, that constantly needs lubed/oil bathed...

Seadooya,

we discovered that both lines with the oil filters must have been cut because each line has a bolt in the line with a clamp around it and all of the other lines are connected. So is everything else okay except for mixing oil and keeping the oil tank about half full or do we need to have block off plates put on?

You really need to put the oil pump back together and have the machine run the way it was intended - I know this sounds harsh but for all the time and trouble i takes to defeat the oil injection and keep replacing plugs you could get a pump that works and be back in action trouble free, if you can follow the charts that show the oil line routing try putting the OEM system back and mark the tank to see if it is drinking while you run on premix, the previous owner may have been overwhelmed in setting the marks for the cable or just thought because chainsaws do this it should be done in the marine world also - this is a long debate that I am not going to entertain, I have lawn care and marine 2cycle motor so I know where the smoke is welcome and where it is dicouraged. Using the OEM pump is a good idea for oil savings, you do not have to guess how much oil when you add gas away from home and burn the motor.
