Oil for premixed ski

Hello everyone,

I am trying to find another ski and one that is in very good condition been converted to premix (basically mint beside the oil system) so I was wondering if a buy one would I be able to use seadoo oil for the rv bath and a “normal” oil for the premix. If so would there be any concerns if the crank seals start to leak and cause the two types to mix in the crank case.

Thank you

Shouldn’t it be the other way around if you’re going to use. 2 different oils? The good stuff API-TC in the pre mix and the cheap stuff in the RV

The answer is yes. You can and should be using an API-TC oil in the rotary valve and premix. You can premix any of the API-TC oils.

This is interesting because I always assumed the api rating was only because of the rotary valve instead of for both.
The API-TC rating really is critical for the engine to have a long life. I was sold on it when I realized the Sthil oil was API-TC rated. I had used a TCW-3 oil in the weed wa Lee and it died in under a year. Without looking into it again, in a nutshell I believe it lubricates at higher temperatures

Has nothing to do with the rotary valve, it has to do with the engines. Seadoo makes more power per cc than any of the others so it needs a better oil since the engines are more stressed.
