I just took out our 96 Sportster for the first time the other day. I had just filled the oil tank up with new synthetic oil before we went out. I would say we used about less than a 1/4 tank of gas. It seems that the oil level barely moved. What is the usual oil consumption per tank of gas?

The boat ran OK and there was some smoke coming out of the exhaust but I think some smoke is normal. The plugs read OK.

Thanks!

I'm not sure how much exactly, But I purchased my ski's last summer and only had to fill twice splitting a gallon each time.

Thanks for the input I just want to be sure I am not starving it I had checked the lines and oil filter and there was oil flowing through both. I also hit the oil lever today when I had it idling in the drive way to see if would smoke out exhaust and it did. I think I was just expecting to see it level drop after a few hours of running. Just need to take care of the surging problem.

This is what i do NOT like about our 2-strokes...they dont burn enough oil that you can clearly see that they are burning ANY!!!

It freaks me out and keeps me anxious when i keep having to fill the fuel tank and i dont see a noticeable drop in the oil tank.

Seadoo has figured out how to optimize the oil supply to keep the.engines running while minimizing oil consumption.

using a full tank of fule... at full throttle will burn about a quart of oil. If you burnt a 1/4 tank... you only used about 8 oz of oil. Unless you marked the thank (with a sharpie marker) you wouldn't have seen it move.

I have marked the oil tank and am anxious to get it back on the water and check it; also to check to see if it is still surging after the other repairs I have done. Thanks again for the help
