Oil cable release

Trying to get my oil pump cable off to pull the carb but I cannot for the life of me get the small black “tube” to spin enough to match up with the grooves to get the cable to release. 97 GTI.. any hints?

Try removing the carb bolts and loosen the carb to provide more slack and room in order to remove that oil injector cable.

Pull the pump arm to wide open to give necessary slack. Manually pull it that is.
